The second two nights of our Vegas vacation was spent at the Delano. It’s attached to the Mandalay Bay. The furthest end of the strip. So it was a little less busy.
The room rate through American Express FHR program was $228. And that came with a $60 breakfast credit each day and a $100 credit at the spa. Caesar’s Palace was at $209 a night and seeing how much everything was, we were ready to move.
I have to say, where you stay can make or break your vacation. As soon as we got to Delano at Mandalay Bay, it was like a breath of fresh air.
This hotel is on the far end of the strip. So although it’s massive, it’s not as busy. But there’s still plenty to do. Mandalay Bay is connected to the Luxor and Excalibur by tram. It’s takes about 5 minutes to wait for an available tram and then just a quick 4 minute ride. Then you find yourself on the corner between Excalibur, New York New York, Tropicana And MGM. Very centralized. You can also walk through the three hotels as they are connected by a walkway through the shoppes.
Everything here was more reasonably priced. Still high but not outrageous. A large vanilla latte was $7 v $10 for a medium at Caesar’s. Also a draft beer was between $8-$10 v $15 at Caesar’s.
The Delano has all suites. So you get a living room with half bath and a separate bedroom with full bath. It’s really quite large and we enjoyed the layout.
The living room has a wet bar, desk, sofa and the half bath with Tv. The bedroom has a second large plasma tv and a third tv in the master bathroom. Beds are soft and plush with comfy sheets. You get a large shower and tub but water pressure was just average.
The breakfast every day was only available at Delia’s which is downstairs. The first day was outstanding. The second morning it was packed and the quality went down. But you can still get a hearty breakfast for your credit.
The spa gift credit, while great, causes us to get get two massages. So at the end of the day we had two 50 minute massages for $260. So it was rather high. But the therapists did a great job. The spa facility itself has a nice steam room sauna and a pool along with a couple whirlpools. It’s a relaxing atmosphere for those who enjoy that.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
